do you think preds would capture animals or anything for reasearch purposes maybe? and if so would they use them to start a hunt when they have no more use of them?

Exactly! maybe they would capture them instead of observing on a hunt to not risk being seen and have marines coming after them.
well then they may be seen capturing them, AHHH i messed up my own answer.

Thaty's the thing, I don't thinkthey would care. Most of Pred 1's knowlege seemed to come from observation.

like maybe to look at the statistics of an unknown animal to see if it would cause a problem in a hunt.

to the sig thing: well celtic i was looking for a pic of celtic from avp for my avatar. i dont remember what i put in but i saw your sig on there, and under the sig was a link to this site. it was the sig that was orange, had blue letters i think, and it had 2 pictures of spike or whatever his name is from buffy. i knew it was your cause you are the only one i know who did sigs like that and it had your name on it.

Observing eh? Yeah. All skilled hunters need to observe their prey if they want a successful hunt. Why? Because you need to know their schedule. When will they live their den? Where do they get their Food? What paths does it take to get it's Food? All these questions need to be answered by the hunter for his Hunt to be an exellent hunt.
Now for Yautjas catching their prey to study. Nope. Sounds too humanish to be like a Yautja. I go with the ones that says Yautjas don't study their prey but instead observe them.

What if they needed to cure a medical disease(if they get sick) like maybe take DNA to make a medicine or something.
you know like a bee stings you and some people say it helps with stuff.

Did HERBS cross your mind buddy? The indians did it. You can get medicines from nature to cure your wounds and all that but sometimes, herbs can't heal ya.
For example, You may get poisoned and somebody got an herb which is a poison to but it's a poison that kills the poison you have, so that makes it a double edge sword. (I read that in a fantasy book.) Herbs can help the yautjas I say.
