It sounds like she had been badgering Weyland for a while trying to get them to fund the expedition to that planet. She already had her theory about what she might find there, she just didn't have have any way to get there. Most scientists rely on grants to conduct their research.

Yutani is all over this. Spying on feeds to Weyland perhaps?

One thing that contradicts the theory that Yutani is spying the messages to Weyland is the fact that at the beginning of the clip there is an into saying:

CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY


So if this is a espionage video from Yutani, how does it end up on Weyland records.

I see two hypotesis:
- This is video was obtained by Weyland using counter espionage.
- Weyland is using Yutani software to profile Prometheus Crew Members.

Note: I find awsome that they're focusing so much on the Corporations.
