i know its late but i just saw avp2,

and i thought it was exactly the way it was gonna i luved it and the strausse brothers keep't the story good much better than the last film, the action rocks the music pumps, adn the tension is pounding at the latter stage of the film. 5 out'a 5 for me great film.

PredatorClan, Human, 16 years ago

ive seen it 2 i love the bit when the cop is in the forest & sees the predator and his walkie talkie goes off and he runs but the predator catches him with his wrist blades in the stomach

The-Wolf, Human, 16 years ago

I'm glad you loved it. I loved it too. What really worked for me was all the homages and classic designs brought back from the dead. I loved the Wolf kicking ass and hunting humans. I loved the Aliens anilating everything and spreading through the town and the Predalien was great. What I hate about this movie is all the bad reviews. I don't think people understand this movie was for the hard core fans. Doesn't seem clear when the directors of the freakin' movie sign into the fan forum and answer questions about the movie? lol

daveberg, Human, 16 years ago

To be fair, i disagree mate. I don't think it was for hardcore fans at all. Think it was a pointless cash in aimed at a new generation of Explosion loving, no thought invoking, fans. It was an easy ride with a terrible script, & even worse characters, which were only passably saved by the action sequences, which, in general, were so shrouded in darkness, you couldn't see what was going on half the time.

Yes, i'm an AVP hater. So sue me. I'd go out on a limb and be brave enough to say, most hardcore fans would probably stand with me and boycott this AVP rubbish we've seen, and opt for a return to the real franchise.

No offense to those of you who like the AVP films.

Deathdrop, Human, 16 years ago

I'm still hoping Predator 3 gets made...

Maybe when hell freezes over, pigs fly, and Tom Cruise stops being such an asshole.

The-Wolf, Human, 16 years ago

I understand Dave. I respect your opinion and it doesn't bother me because thats how you feel.

Do you think part of the reason it wasn't good to you might be because it was the Strauses' first movie?

daveberg, Human, 16 years ago

I think it's more that I'm just set in my ways, and very old school.

Looking at the bigger picture I'm being slightly hypocritical. I'm spending too much time weighing up the AVP films against the actual individual franchise movies from both Alien and Predator - it's never gonna meet my expectations if i hold the new films up against Cameron's Aliens etc, but at the same note, i was able to separate Rob Zombies Halloween from John Carpenters, so really, i think I'm just being stubborn for the sake of it?

That said, i do have extreme issues with the AVP films, i think my biggest niggle is the fact i miss Ripley. It just doesn't seem like an Alien film without her.....

predatoress, Human, 16 years ago

The classic design didn't save the horrible plot with plastic character and mindless battles (especially the short final battle between the Wolf and the predalien what made you wonder "that's it...?"). I have to agree with Dave, even I don't know if I'm a hardcore fan at all. Maybe old generation or traditional predator/alien fan. Both of the avp's have been just awful in my mind but combining the two genres with the features from both is difficult. Having the savage horror and wild, open environments of the predator films combined to the psychological horror, closed spaces and symbolical, pressuring athmosphere of alien movies is difficult as hell.

The-Wolf, Human, 16 years ago

You know, I liked the characters. It just didn't bother me how different they are. This movie carries that Night of the Living Dead (or any Zombie movie actually) feel. Which is they are in a town, people are dying. Its spreading. - Don't ask what they are, run and try to survive. With that in mind, these are just normal people. The silent bad ass character in this movie was Dallas. To me, he was just a normal bad ass. The kind of bad ass character you would expect in this movie's setting. Not just Dallas but all the characters interest me. In the cinema I was so curious how it will be when these new characters will face up Aliens and a Predator.

And yes, I agree. In order to get into this movie, you have to realize these arn't the classics. This movie was real close though which is why I hated the first AvP because it was like Alien Ressurection with these new watered-down dumb Predators.

same deathdrop i cant wait for predator 3 that would be sick

I personally really enjoyed AVP-R. I've been a hardcore fan of both franchises for nearly 13 years, & I honestly thought it was great. Sure it might have been a brainless 90-minute film with weak characters & script, but to be honest, after the first AVP, which was a complete cold-shoulder, Requiem was a breath of fresh air. The predators were brought back to form, which is definitely one of my strongest likes about the movie, although unfortunately most of the battles were one-sided.

As for the comments about the movie being dark, the Strauses actually explained that there were some "bad prints" recieved by some of the cinemas, which could explain some of that issue.

The film wasn't on the same level as Aliens or Predator...but did we really expect it to be? As it stands, on an entertainment scale at least, Requiem is head & shoulders above the last couple of films we've gotten, & considering the script that the Strauses had to work with, I think they did a fantastic job.

I liked AVP-R and at times yeah acting was poor but it wasn't that bad, Personally I think the Strause bothers should get a 5/5 for having to put up with the stress that us fans put on them and with Fox breathing down their necks and giving them hardly enough money to perfect the movie. I know why so many people hate I've seen the movies but stop with the hate, I mean it could have been worse, and trust me I have seen really bad movies. I liked the acting yeah it needed Improving but it was still good, action scenes as we can all agree where a bit dark but I saw it all just fine. I've kept the Bucket and cup and will proudly keep it safe forever along with the movie when I buy it.

daveberg, Human, 16 years ago

I didn't hate it. Hate is a strong word. But i just felt is was a throw away movie. I'll get some stick for this, but i actually enjoyed Freddy VS Jason more than AVP-R. At least they actually stuck with the formula of the two characters, AVP-R just seemed to re-write the book for both Alien and Predator to be honest.

I can't follow a film that has weak characters and poor dialogs, i just can't. Might as well turn down the sound or fall asleep while the characters are getting their screen time, having a dream would be much more entertaining. What made the alien/predator franchise was a combination of excellent story and hard nosed lead characters, people we could identify with and feel for in times of desperation and terror, we all mourned Hudson as the aliens pulled him through the floor in Cameron's masterpiece. We all felt the tension of Mac and Dillon trying to stalk the Predator before it struck again. What did i feel for the characters in AVP-R? I felt like writing to them and asking for a refund.

true...oh so true....

Stalker, Human, 16 years ago

Admittedly the characters were terrible...especially the whole Ricky & Jesse sub-plot, that was something that belonged in a Jason film. At least Kelly was decent in her own right. This wasn't all the Strauses' fault though...they originally wanted a 2-hour film, filled with far more character depth than it had, but due to Fox constantly breathing down their necks & forcing them to sacrifice running time & budget, they couldn't include everything they wanted. Colin even mentioned this in his latest interview.

Really though, the stars of the film in this case were the creatures. They got far more screen time than the human characters did. I honestly wasn't complaining. As much as I love the depth of films like Alien & Alien3, it was still great to see the creatures get the main spotlight for a change.

manfred, Human, 16 years ago

i think the movie sucked. dont know but hated it i love the 3 fhirst predator, predator 2, and avp but requiem is i dont know what to say

DeathWraith, Human, 16 years ago

The fact that you love AvP says more than enaugh, most of us hated it. I don't understand how anyone can like AvP more than AvP-R but hey, i don't understand lots of things, even if the things i do understnad outnumber those that i don't. Even with all the bad things in it, i liked AvP-R very much, and i liked AvP too, i mean, it had aliens and predators in it, but heh... AvP-R was better, AvP-R i liked as much as most of Resurrection (the parts where the newborn didn't exist).

Karo, Human, 16 years ago

lol I know it's not anything like Cameron's 'Aliens' lol but what the hell ever will be? It's good enough for me that these great concepts are still being used, even if they are aiming at a more stupid audience. I see AVPR for what it is, violence pornography, kinda like 300 lol but I still enjoy if for all its worth. Not to mention , Aliens still exists. Films that good should never come twice anyway.

manfred, Human, 16 years ago

yes death wraith every one has their own taste ....
