Yeah, but there is importance in the junk DNA strands, these strands are like the chain links in stringing the same DNA code over and over again, thus allowing the DNA strands to evolve into something other than just a single celled life form, it's the junk DNA that allows the code to be "copied" and placed next to each other to create a genetic structure. So the Facehugger would be taking more than just a single strand of DNA to sample it would be grabbing a whole collected chain of DNA that it would have to figure out how it's repetitive so it can define a beginning and an end, as every species would have different lengths in genetic codes and structures. So the time it would take to work all of that out I highly doubt that the facehugger would be able to do it that quickly because it anatomically doesn't have the features to be able to process that kind of inforation. However it is possible that being an alien it could figure all of that out or it could do it by instincts perhaps or maybe even a sample is taken and the message is sent to the queen who decides if they are a worthy host or not, maybe that's why some people are killed outright, whilst the others are caccooned or whatever and used as hosts.
Then again maybe the alien DNA removes all genetic defects or something, maybe adding to the idea that they were created as a weapon so they can adapt to any kind of host with any kind of defect and weed that defect out by replacing that DNA code with the Xenomorphs DNA, I'm guessing the Xeno DNA would be more prominate in the embryo/chestburster. As the xeno's really didn't seem to change much with the host, only minor differences like the alien from A3, it's four limbs were a bit longer and more even in length than the average drone, but drones anyway seem to move kinda quadpedal like anyway kinda like monkeys.

It's kinda funny if u think that over 90% of DNA doesn't really code anything (so-called "junk-DNA"). How the aliens "know" what parts to take?

I think the Face-Huggers do a quick scan over a small sample of DNA from the throat, which explains why the animal/human hosts were breathing healthy gases instead of -insert analogy to burritos here-.

So if the Face-Hugger found a trace of anything that might hurt their species, it might leave the host or somehow keep the disease out of the embryo.

well genetic diseases might be passed down not sure about cancer tho but maybe the xenos can get those illnesses from the hosts DNAbut perhapse the xenos only take a basic form from the DNA cos if all the DNA of a host was in a xeno then it would be different to other xenos so no xeno would be the same but they just seem to take the basic stuff like the bone structure and that

Possibly but Aliens might just naturally avoid that type of host.
