Yeah I'm not freaked out by the Ebola thing, I mean remember how everyone got their panties in a wad over Swine Flu? It was suppose to be the next worst flu outbreak since 1918(as some predicted) and vaccines were virtually non-existent? Yeah this is how I'm viewing Ebola.

Not that that situation isn't serious in areas where there are multiple infected persons, who I genuinely feel sorry for.

Mebber, Yautja, 9 years ago

"There's a huge difference between the USA, where every single person is kept under surveillance, and underdeveloped African countries, where people live together with the fauna."

Plus, we've actually got more than 1 doctor per 100.000 citizens. And more stuff like... hospitals, ambulances and specialized personnel for emergencies. To put it short, our societies and infrastructure aren't grinded by decades of civil war and poverty.
And (most) people "around here" know on a basic level what germs and diseases actually are - that the germs cause the diseases, that it is important to avoid to spread them, and that they can be spread through stuff like hand-shakes, fluids, the air or what not. That is kindergarten stuff around here, but it makes a helluva difference. In the affected countries in west africa, notable parts of the population lack this basic understanding. Thats why they do stuff like hiding their sick relatives from the doctors because they think the "spooky white guys in suits" are actually causing all the illness, or why they find it hard to accept how important it is to not kiss their deceased friends and relatives (which is part of their culture, but is a real bad idea if you're dealing with stuff like ebola).

And about mutations: i wouldn't worry too much about what-if scenarios, because if you start with it, you'll never sleep easy again. I mean, there are like a bazillion things in the world which could turn our lifes pretty shitty pretty fast if you take "what-if" scenarios into account. But the mutation thing is still a pretty good rational reason for helping the poor folk in west africa, even though ebola isn't THAT much of a threat to us rich snobs atm. Because the longer ebola survives in human hosts, the more likely it is to mutate some day, which would be indeed very bad.

You know who I want to see show up one of these days? I want to see Katam and Navyspaz again. Just even a small "hey guys i guess i've been afk for a little while haha"

Where'd those assholes go, anyway?

@Mebber: I don't know anything about the situation, but I wonder how bad Ebola is in the wealthier parts of Africa. I'm assuming it's exactly how it is in the states - not a problem.

DarkLioness, Yautja, 9 years ago

Yeah in the wealthier areas it's not a problem, just like health care for wealthy people in this country isn't a problem. It's only a problem for the working class and those of us who are usually broke.

Why are Wacom products so goddamn expensive...

Oh yeah, I finally watched the first 2 episodes of RWBY.

It was so so so so so so so terrible. Holy shit. I really hate seeing 3D models in anime (not even Ghost in the Shell gets my approval) and the whole goddamn thing is rendered with 3D models. Animation aside, the script and worldbuilding was just... awful. The action was fine, but I would have liked it a lot more when I was really into DBZ or Yu Yu Hakusho.

One of the few good things was the main character. Everyone else is annoying, but she's cute. I don't know. I liked her. And her sister's okay, too. But Principal Bishounen and Cool Mafia Guy are really uninteresting.

I feel like buying 20 "Anime Was a Mistake" shirts and wearing all of them on Halloween at the same time.

Edit: On that note, DW, I heard Tokyo Ghoul is getting a 2nd season.

Edit: Yep.

Dronehive, Yautja, 9 years ago

Why... Why. Why does shit like that get two seasons. Fucking. Hell.

And sometimes I wish I could get another season of something actually worth watching, like... Fuck, is anything good?

(Then again, we finally get fucking Fate/Stay Night. Made by the same people who made Fate Zero. Every little thing is gonna be alright.)

skull_ripper, Yautja, 9 years ago

God fucking dammit, I just turned eighteen.

GAUNT, THE CAKE.....

@DH: I dunno dude, I could go for another season of Eden of the East.

DeathWraith, Yautja, 9 years ago

You'll get over it, happy birthday.

Also, about Tokyo Ghoul... yay :I

-Bloo-, Yautja, 9 years ago

I just binge-watched every episode of RWBY and I formed a slightly different opinion:

1) It turned out to be pretty OK - it's an Enjoyable Bad Show at best
2) Mr. Clockwork Orange is still extremely uninteresting but every other character actually gets pretty decent
3) The main character is still cute
4) I want to bang her sister
4.1) Even though she's literally a super saiyan
5) The animation and a lot of the script is still So Bad
6) Dr. Green Hair is actually a well written character and not just "Slice of Life porn" like almost everyone else
7) The Fantastic Racism plot is kind of interesting
8) I would seriously bang the main character's sister

I'd give it a 6/10 but the bad things lower it to a 4.7

DeathWraith, Yautja, 9 years ago

I still can't stand to watch even a single full episode because of the animation and because the voice acting is bad. Like, I just hear the voices of the people from Rooster Teeth, not the voices of the characters, like I would in RvB.

Also, if you wanna watch more Korean people singing, here's a bunch of episodes from that show with mostly great singing, posted and subtitled by the TV channel that broadcasts it, on the TV channel's youtube channel.

Here's an episode where past winners compete against each other.

EDIT: If you watch the above episode and wonder what Ailee was emotional about, an ex boyfriend had recently tried to sell her nudes to Korean media but eventually just posted them on an imageboard. Normally this would have been devastating for a Korean idol's career, but the way a certain media outlet spread the news about it and the good media play by her agency resulted in the backlash only negatively affecting that media outlet that spread the news. Pretty much everyone cheered her on instead of engaging in slut shaming as is expected of Korean "netizens" to do.

ALL HAIL THE CRAB! HE IS MIGHTY!!

badapple24, Yautja, 9 years ago

...... I'm going to assume that we're going back to the giant crab from like four or five off topic threads ago....

Also I learned there is a duck dynasty video game WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HUMANITY!!!!!!!!

-Bloo-, Yautja, 9 years ago

@DW: Wow, that girl's ex is an asshole, I'm glad it turned out ok. Anyway that show sounds perfect for my Friday night.

@Gaunt: I don't know how you even became our cake guy, but it's cool that you are.

DeathWraith, Yautja, 9 years ago

I only linked the first part. They did it in two parts because there were more contestants than usual, if you wanna watch all of it just copy the title and change the date to a week later. But it's long, it's 3 hours in total. And a lot of it is them joking around between performances, so I hope you're interested in seeing that, too, lol. Also part two had better performances overall, I think, even though it started off with one of the worst.

Deathdrop, Yautja, 9 years ago

Badapple: The Crab is in every off-topic thread. The Crab is omnipresent.

You must excuse me. The melatonin is kicking in.

skull_ripper, Yautja, 9 years ago

So after a long period of blah, I have returned to respond to you lovely people.

@DD: Your encouragement is truly inspiring, I think I will continue to age upon your recommendation.

@Bloo: You are the herald of Gaunt, relish in your awesomeness.

@DW: Thanks man, and you were right, I got over it.

@Gaunt: That Cake made me feel decidedly evil, I'm channeling all that pure joy into an energy cannon! :D

And on a different note, I just watched Godzilla 2014. I want the time it took to watch it returned to me. Not even the brief cameo of Godzilla could make up for the lack of Blue Oyster Cult music.

-Bloo-, Yautja, 9 years ago

Gone Girl is so good, Jesus...

@DD: I'll read your story sometime today, but I'm gonna go watch Fury first.

@DW: I'll probably just have it on in the background anyway, so I don't mind the length.

@SR: "I just watched Godzilla 2014" YEAH

"I want the time it took to watch it returned to me" NAH

Deathdrop, Yautja, 9 years ago

"Not even the brief cameo of Godzilla could make up for the lack of Blue Oyster Cult music."

YEAH? WELL... YOU... THAT... Fuck. I have to admit, that was a pretty sick burn.
