As of this evening it appears to be confirmed that legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott is set in the director's chair to helm the new ALIEN film.

Scott, as many of you know, directed the original Alien in 1979. His only other science fiction credit is awarded to Blade Runner, a classic of equal thought and horrific beauty.
This Alien film is reportedly a prequel to the original film of sorts, and marks his long anticipated return to the genre we all love. Scott's other impressive credits include Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Hannibal, American Gangster, Matchstick Men, as well as several others.
