I dislike 3D most of the time, but seeing Jurassic Park in theaters is pretty tempting.

They could’ve saved some money by just re-releasing it the way it was made then. This 3D gimmick makes about as much sense to me as converting movies that were originally filmed in black & white to color.

Also I got the image for my sig from the episode of Tales of the Crypt Bill Paxton starred in. “People Who Live in Brass Hearses” was the name I believe.

Oh, I'd definitely prefer an HD re-release rather than the money-grubbing 3d-ification of a movie that didn't need it, but if that's what it takes to see JP in theaters, I'll gladly put up with it.

Also, Tales From The Crypt is awesome.

Wait, that's a gimmick? I thought converting stuff to color was kinda cool. Conversion to 3D, on the other hand, usually just fails.

But 3D's not always bad. Some elevate it to an actual art form, like with Hugo. But it's probably a bad thing that that's the only 3D movie I can think of that doesn't blow, other than that U2 thing (which was made a few years before the current 3D craze). But to be fair, both those were filmed with the right tech and not converted in post-production, so I guess the point still stands.

Regardless, it'd Jurassic fucking Park, man.

For every Hugo, though, there are 800 movies where 3D means nothing besides 2 extra bucks and crappy color.

Bloo I was thinking along the line of studios converting old B&W films to color decades after their release like what they were doing in the 80’s. If a movie was filmed in Black & White and was meant to be viewed as such I think they should leave the movie the way it is.

EDIT: Night of the Living Dead (which has also been 3Dized) is a good example of what I'm talking about.

@DD: Yeah, it's pretty horrible. Movies like Prometheus, Hugo and Avatar, which are absolutely full of scenery porn, probably need to be in 3D (at least for the extensive shots of the background) because it takes it to the next level, which is what 3D should be in theory. Everyone else takes it as an opportunity to cut out the characters and turn them into the audience from a Nintendo 64 NBA game.

@Gambusia: I dunno, it's not like the black and white was exactly a stylistic choice back then. You do have a point though, I realized that conversion to color rather than being filmed in color would probably be as horrible as conversion to 3D rather than being filmed in 3D.

^That somehow made me realize that there's a scene in Resurrection where one of the Xenomorphs skull-fucks that one guy to death. The exact description was probably less vulgar in the script, but how neat would it be if it weren't?

This also made me realize you can call Xenomorphs "dickface" and it surprises me no one's done it before.

On a serious note though:

You know how crazy religious people complain about certains things being sinful? Like some crazy ass guy wanted to outlaw pre-marital sex. He even wanted to throw people in jail for masturbating or being suspected of masturbating. Ok well then a lot of people would be in jail because nearly 99.99% of the population on this planet has masturbated at one point or another.

I actually know a dude who stopped being friends with an otherwise "straight-gay" person upon finding out she's gay because "it's just different now."

But let's not get into that. It's almost Christmas, guys. The only religion we should be talking here is Jesus' birthday bash and the delayed rapture.
