Why in Prometheus does Mr Weyland die but in Alien 3 he is alive and healthy ,does anyone know why?

The hell, people. It's not the same guy. It is explicitly stated that it's not the same guy. They have different first names. They are different ages. They are played by two different actors. I don't understand how anyone could think they were the same character.
