These forums powered by HTML?

Hey, ummm not a real big deal, but I noticed this forum is powered directly by HTML. No PHP aside form rofiles. Just for personal curiosity, how exactly did you get the forum to work without databases, or PHP? I would imagine that you would have each new topic stored a a variable or new folder by way of the form, and then keep track of replies, but I am just amazed at this because I have never seen a forum coded entirely in HTML.

As I am learning more in depth PHP, just want to knwo why it's coded in html.
