Why do the aliens change in each film

If anyone has noticed the aliens in the films change. For example in alien it has a smooth head and six fingers, but in aliens it has a ribbed head and three fingers. Does anyone know why this is so?

cameron wanted the alien to look scarier so he took off the top of the skull to see the bone structure and i am not sure about the fingers

it was also because it was cheaper to make the alien costumes without the dome....each film seems to go in a slightly different design

They probably forgot like in loads of movie they make mistakes in the sequel

Yeah like in Predator 2 when they forgot what weapons the predator had and made more...
