th bad effects of the aliens in alien vs predator.

at least they didn't sound as ridiculous as the "bambi-burster" as it is called from the special edition of A3, lol. Yeah TITAN, I have to agree, the queen just didn't act like a queen, it was bascially just a different looking t-rex in the movie, which completely contradicted everything that a queen is supposed to be. The aliens themselves were quite well done I thought (although the CG was probably overused in certain scenes & it wasn't exactly the best I've ever seen) although the aliens hands were poorly done, their big rubbery looking fingers just didn't give the illusion of being deadly weapons. I personally think that the sfx were stupid. I prefer the classic alien sounds, especially the ones from aliens. You just don't get that nostalgic alien "feel" without the classic sfx.

The predators were done good in some scenes, bad in others. Celtic in particular I thought was very well done. While I still don't think that the preds looked anywhere near as good as the first 2, they still looked reasonable enough. There are a few faults with them though. First of all, the hands were done poorly, as the texturing on the gloves went from dark tones & colours on the knuckles, to pale white on the palms, without much oradient separating the radically different colour tones, which looked ridiculous. The preds faces also looked terrible, just the way the mandibles were positioned etc. looked unnatural, & not anywhere near as good as the first 2, & again, the sfx were an issue. Overall, neither the aliens nor the preds in the movie managed to conjure up that special feel that their predecessors did.

I don't know what happened to that; that would of been good, especially since there were times when they could of. Like when the Elder gave Lex the spear; he could of said something to her that was kind of like what the Predator 2 Elder said to Harrigan when he gave him the pirate's pistol. Or before Scar died. Or something. I don't know. Just, somewhere good. The Predator's faces, in my opinion, looked a little more than cheesy; more like that stuff that comes out of old HotDogs when they've been sitting out in the rain all weekend long.

thats another thing the preds didn't even talk in the AvP movie. they just roared and growled in the 1st and 2nd both preds talked in there classic demonlike voice. what happend? and I agree with you stalker totaly in the DVD version the guy on the creature effects said they didn't want to change the look of the preds cause they were such a reconisable charactor. in my opinion they failed the preds look nothing like they should especualy there faces.

Some of the effects were a bit off in places, yes. But the hydraulic Queen and the hero alien puppet were just dazzling to look at. The CGI had also improved vastly from Alien: Resurrection.

I'm watching the movie now. and I do see some problems but there not that oh never mind I saw that. ok well there are some CGI peds as well.

I agree with AVPFREAK; the Predators do look good, the Aliens are a little off, but they are still very realistic... except, the Queen was like it just escaped from a Mental Asylum; she didn't care if she hit or broke walls, she was sceeching like crazy, and her "children" were following her. It was still realistic, though.

personaly I thought the queen acted like a T-REX then a queen. being frozen for a few hundred would probely screw me up too. but yes the aliens did have a cuple of flaws. mostly in sound FX ever notic that?

Almost all the alien sounds were made by pig squeals and elephants. Lame. Seriously, that is my biggest flaw with AVP. I wish they would sound more menacing, like they did in the quadrilogy. But no.........
